Love in Patras…
The following story is kind of a personal one. Melina had always been one my wife’s dearest cousins! Nectarios has been my pal for as long as I can remember, as well as a fellow (and truly gifted) photographer. They met and became an item which was more than great news to me and my wife, to the whole family, actually; Come this summer, we are about to grow even closer, as wedding bells are ringing, and Chara, my darling wife, will be the guys’ best wo-man. Now it’s funny how a man gets to feel when they’re about to shoot their own kin. Some would approach the shoot with a mild detachment, some might trip a while and go overboard with flakiness or lax, others might profess tenderness in attempt to establish how close their relation is to the good people, and others might not know where to begin with.
I’m inclined to say I’m a very fortunate man, in life, having such sincere and tight bonds that need no polish to shine, and as a photographer shooting a couple that knows exactly where they stand, but also enjoy the ride as much as I do.
And to be honest…
Whenever I think of this shoot we’ve had with Melina and Nektarios in Patras, I get nostalgic over first dates; translate that to big, bright, toothy smiles, heart fluttering so eager that you don’t have the strength to take your sight off her face; feelings boiling inside your chest, that you suddenly want to take her up to the highest point in town, have her crimson dress dance in the breeze, watch the sun dive behind her back, as you hug and enjoy how tiny the world looks from above;
Then you’ll take a little stroll, lie down a bit, you’ll approach her for a kiss that will turn to loud laughther as if nothing really ever mattered that much; she will go on making these girly giggles that can drive a man insane with sweetness; as she runs her soft hand through your hair her boho shawl will fall off her shoulders and she picks up her dress, moves so effortlessly delicate, in tiny, tiny steps … makes you think skies have never looked so incredibly blue and then well… you cannot but shamelessly accept the fact that you’re a sucker for romance, you’re madly in love … and you love it;
Wishing you the best guys, can’t wait for you to tie the knot … it will be a blast and we’re on for some great times !! Love you !!
