PERFECT GETAWAY I DO'S AT LAZAROU BEACH, SIFNOS

Uden ar in filteron allo patris, said Theognes, the 6th-century Greek poet, and what he meant to say was "there's nothing sweeter than your homeland", something that as a wedding photographer I've come to feel so deep inside, especially when I get to document the wedding of expatriate Greeks who return home to seal their love in their ancestral land. Such was the case of Paulina, her Chris and their incredible families who flew to the languid island of Sifnos for a truly epic, big, Greek wedding. Forget what you've seen in Hollywood movies, as these two stunning lovebirds come from a lineage of true romantics, big-hearted, generous, and insanely exuberant moms and dads, who know how to keep the entire island dancing to the rhythm of their wedding vibes. Ensconced in one of the most exclusive private villas of Sifnos island, where views make your heart stop, pergolas drown under the weight of bougainvillea buds and a sense of Mediterranean requiescence pervades, the warmth of the Beys family and their new kin, made me happy to be alive. I could rave for hours on Emily - the total wedding genie and Paulina's mom who orchestrated everything to perfection- the couple's pre-wedding dance party on the beach, the liquid light that soaked us all during Paulina and Harry's ceremony on one of the most picture-perfect churches the Aegean boasts, the slow-paced bohemian charm of our sunset together, and the magical scene Elite Events Athens Santorini set for the Lazarou Beach bash that lasted till 7 p.m the next day. Instead, I will have you look at their portraits and see for yourselves why each time I reminisce of our times together there is a huge smile that won't leave my face!
